At 23 years old I believe fitness and wellness is the key and foundation to a long and happy life.  Thats what led me to become a licensed massage therapist and specialize in trigger point therapy.  I quickly realized that this work is about much more than relieving pain--it's about helping people get their lives back.

Whether thats high school athletes, college athletes, weekend warriors or the everyday person trying to live without with aches and pains, my goal is the same: identify the problem, relieve the pain, and help clients move better for the long term.

The moment that confirmed I had found my calling happened while I was still in massage therapy school.  I worked with an older gentleman who was suffering with severe sciatic pain. He was frustrated, discouraged, and in so much discomfort that he wouldn't even shake my hand before the session.

After an hour of treatment, everything changed.  His pain had eased, his attitude had completely transformed, and before he left, he smiled, shook my hand, and thanked me.  He told me he hadn't felt that good in years.

That experience changed me.

In that moment, I knew God had called me to use my hand's to help people heal.  Since then, I've made it my mission to provide exceptional care, educate my clients about the root causes of their pain, and help them live healther, stronger, and more active lives.

THE MISSION

At NextGen Therapy, we don't just treat pain-we identify the source.  Our mission is to deliver industry-leading trigger point therapy while empowering our clients with the knowledge, movement, and strength they need to eliminate pain, recover faster, and live an active, healthier life.

Austin, TX is consistently recognized as one of the healthiest and most active cities in America.  Whether you're training for competition, staying fit, or simply trying to live a healthier lifestyle, an active life often comes with aches, pains, and injuries.

Ironically, many of the habits of modern life work against our bodies.  Hours spent sitting in a desk, driving, studying, or even sleeping in poor positions can contribute to muscle tightness, movement restrictions, and postural imbalances.  Over time, these issues can alter the way we move, placing added stress on muscles and joints and often leading to discomfort and pain.

The longer these underlying issues go unaddressed, the more they can affect your mobility, performance, and overall quality of life.  Thats why treatment, combined with education and corrective movement, is so important.

Trigger point therapy is a specialized form of massage therapy that focuses on reliving tight, sensitive areas within muscles known as trigger points, often referred to as "knots."  These areas can develop from overuse, injury, poor posture, repetitive movement, stress, or prolonged inactivity and may cause both localized pain and pain that radiates to other parts of the body.

During treatment, sustained, targeted pressure is applied to the trigger point to help reduce muscle tension, improve tissue mobility, and encourage the muscle to return to a more relaxed state.  This process also help's improve local circulation, decrease sensitivity within the nervous system, and restore healthier movement patterns.

Many clients experience reduced pain, improved flexibility, greater range of motion, and better overall function after treatment.  When combined with education, stretching, strengthening, and corrective movement, trigger point therapy can help address the underlying causes of pain-not just the symptoms-so you can move better, recover faster, and get back to doing what you love.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Active Release Therapy?

Active Release Therapy (ART) is a hands-on soft tissue technique that combines manual therapy with specific active movements to release trigger points and restore normal muscle function.

How does mobile therapy work?

We bring our clinical expertise directly to you.  Whether you're an athlete in training or someone managing everyday aches, we provide a professional, calming yet interactive environment wherever you are.

What should I expect during a session?

Our sessions are tailored to your needs.  We begin with a thorough assessment of bio mechanics to show you what muscles are contracted.  After identifying the contracted muscles we start the therapy.  Every muscle we work on starts stationary, and as the pain dies down and the muscle lets go we the use targeted active-release movements designed to target the specific muscles actions inducing a quicker release leading to faster recovery and lasting relief.

Is the treatment painful?

We prioritize comfort and a relaxing atmosphere.  Muscles with contractions will always hurt at the start, initially you will feel a sharp pain, then a burning sensation, and finally it just feels like pressure.

How often should I book sessions?

Frequency depends on your individual recovery goals.  Most people find benefit from a series of sessions spaced a 7 days apart, followed by maintenance treatments as needed.

Why does my pain return after a session?

Your muscles are not used to being opened to their fullest extent. During your therapy session, we release the trigger points, open the muscle and restore normal muscle function.  Those opened muscles will be weak and it is your job to strengthen them and their antagonistic sides.  For example, if you are having lower back pain, releasing your psoas and iliacus will give you relief.  However, if you do not strengthen your core and hip flexors, your psoas and iliacus are going to continue pulling on your lower back. Keeping you in pain.

Muscles memory is a real thing.  The first few sessions you are going to feel relief, but the pain will come back. This is not a bad thing.  Your body and nervous system do not recognize that it can let go of the tightness.  That is what the therapy is for.  Continuous sessions allow the body to recognize to release the tightness quicker.
